Feature by feature, and with the price upfront
Both rely on AI to program workouts. That's where they look alike; in the rest, they don't.

Two opposite ways of understanding AI
Freeletics was one of the first to bet on an algorithmic coach, and its approach is consistent: you tell it your goal and it decides. The coach schedules the session, you execute it and give your feedback, and the system adjusts the next one. It works well for those who don't want to think.
VortLoop starts from the opposite extreme: the AI gives you the starting point, not the final say. It generates the complete program with your days, your equipment, and your goal, and from there you can change exercises, adjust sets, reorder days, or delete what doesn't fit you. The routine is marked as modified so you know it is no longer the original.
There is no right answer. If you prefer to obey and not argue, Freeletics is more comfortable. If you have your own criteria, an app that doesn't let you touch the plan ends up being a cage.
The price you have to look for
This is verifiable in their own documentation: the Freeletics help center indicates that to know the subscription price you must log in on their website, and that the weekly price shown is only an indicative reference to compare periods.
In practice, that means you cannot know what you will pay until you have given your data and progressed in the process, and that the figure is presented broken down into weeks, which is the way to make it seem less than what is charged at once.
At VortLoop the price is on the front page: free plan, Pro at 5,99 € a month or 59,99 € a year, Élite at 11,99 € a month or 119,99 € a year, with a 7-day Élite trial for anyone eligible. No sign-up, no email address and no splitting it into weeks.
This is not a judgment on their product, which has a good reputation: it is a difference in commercial transparency that you can verify yourself at the link in the table.
What Freeletics does best
Its adaptive progression has been polished for years: the coach collects your feedback from each session and adjusts the load accordingly, with a more mature logic than any recent generator.
Its bodyweight training is its origin and specialty, with a well-developed proprietary methodology for training without equipment.
It has an iPhone version, and VortLoop does not yet.
And its international community is large and veteran.
What is different here
The library. VortLoop has 887 browsable exercises with instructions, required equipment, activated muscles, and a 3D anatomical viewer. Not just the ones for today: all of them, to consult, learn, and build your own routines.
The scope. Freeletics trains. VortLoop trains, logs what you eat with food quality scoring, measures your progress with comparison photos and body composition, gets you outside with GPS and territory, and has a community with challenges and duels.
And the free plan. In VortLoop, without paying anything you get the 887 exercises, unlimited manual routines, the complete nutrition diary, GPS cardio, and the entire social side. What you pay for is AI automated generation and the analytics layer.
So, which one?
Freeletics if you want a trainer that decides for you, you train mostly with body weight and you don't mind paying upfront for a long period.
VortLoop if you want AI to save you work while keeping control, if you also need nutrition and progress, or if you prefer to try something real before paying.
