VortLoop or Fitbit Premium: without marrying a brand.

Fitbit Premium is designed around a Fitbit band. VortLoop reads your watch no matter the brand, and on top of that trains, feeds, and measures.

The cost that doesn't show in the subscription

According to the Google Store in Spain, Fitbit Premium costs 8,99 € a month or 79,99 € a year. But that is not the real price of entry, because the service is built around a Fitbit tracker: without the device, half of what you pay has nowhere to get data from.

Add the price of the band and the calculation changes. Plus, if in two years you prefer a Garmin or a Samsung, your history stays right where it is.

VortLoop works with the phone you already have. If you also wear a watch, it reads it, no matter the brand.

Health Connect: why your brand doesn't matter

Android has had a health data hub called Health Connect for a while now, where apps write and read with your permission. Garmin, Fitbit, Samsung, Oura, WHOOP, Coros, and scales from Withings, Xiaomi, or Renpho all write there.

VortLoop connects to that common point instead of to each brand separately. Practical consequence: we don't sell you hardware, we don't tie you to an ecosystem, and you can change watches without changing apps.

It reads steps, sleep, heart rate, resting heart rate, weight, body composition, distance, and active calories, and you grant permission type by type, revocable whenever you want from Android settings.

If a session from your watch matches a workout recorded in the app, they aren't counted twice: they are understood as the same activity.

What Fitbit Premium does best

Its sleep analysis is one of the best on the market and has been polished for years: stages, time in each, comparisons with similar profiles. If sleeping well is your priority and you wear their band, that's hard to beat.

Its continuous health metrics—heart rate variability, skin temperature, oxygen saturation—depend on sensors only the device has, and there the advantage belongs to the hardware, not the software.

And it has an iPhone version, which VortLoop doesn't yet.

The deciding question: what do you do with the data?

Fitbit is excellent at measuring. It tells you how much you slept, how much you walked, and how your heart is doing. After that, most people are left looking at pretty charts without knowing what to do with them.

VortLoop turns those same data into concrete decisions: daily readiness tells you whether to push hard or lower the volume today, your rest is crossed with training load, and what you burn goes into the balance of what you eat.

And above all, after measuring you have to do. That is where the comparison falls apart: Fitbit Premium offers guided videos, but it doesn't schedule your gym week, it lacks an 887-exercise library with an anatomical visualizer, it doesn't generate routines based on your available equipment, and it doesn't track sets with PR detection.

Nutrition: the difference is in the depth

Fitbit allows basic food logging. VortLoop scans the barcode and returns macros, fiber, sugars, sodium, processing level, and a quality score from zero to one hundred recalculated based on your goal, with concrete alternatives when the product doesn't make the cut.

It's the difference between noting what you ate and understanding if it suited you.

So, which one?

Fitbit Premium if you already have their band, care mostly about sleep and vitals, and don't need the app to train you.

VortLoop if you don't want to buy hardware to start, if you use another brand's watch, or if what you need is an app that besides measuring gives you the training plan, nutrition, and a community.

And if you already wear Fitbit, you don't have to give up anything: your data reaches VortLoop via Health Connect just like with any other brand.

Questions about Fitbit and VortLoop

Does VortLoop work with my Fitbit band?
Yes. Fitbit writes to Android's Health Connect, so VortLoop can read your steps, sleep, heart rate, and weight with your permission, without needing the Premium subscription.
Do I need to buy any device to use VortLoop?
No. It works with just your phone: GPS, workout tracking, nutrition, and progress don't depend on any gadget. A watch or a scale adds data, but they aren't necessary.
Does VortLoop analyze sleep like Fitbit?
It reads the sleep data provided by your device and uses it to calculate your daily readiness to train. Detailed phase analysis depends on your watch sensors, and there Fitbit with its own band is more complete.
What happens if I change watch brands?
Nothing. Since VortLoop connects to Health Connect and not a specific brand, your history in the app is kept even if you switch from Fitbit to Garmin, Samsung, or any other compatible device.
Which one works out cheaper?
The free VortLoop plan includes training, nutrition, GPS cardio and community at no cost. Paid plans start at 5,99 € a month. The Google Store in Spain lists Fitbit Premium at 8,99 € a month or 79,99 € a year, on top of which you have to add the price of the device if you do not own one.
